Afghanistan win ACC Premier League defeating Nepal by 108 runs

KATHMANDU, MAY 07 - Afghanistan have won the ACC Premier League defeating Nepal by 108 runs in a rain-affected match played at the Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday.

Nepali batsmen struggled against the Afghanistan bowling chasing a stiff total of 263 runs in 50 overs. Following rain interruption, the match was revised and Nepali batsmen had to make 237 runs in 32 overs to win the match.

However, Nepali openers could not give solid start to the team as both of them went back to the pavilion in the 8th over with just 30 runs on the board. Nepal was reeling at 56 for five wickets after 17 overs when the game was halted briefly because of rain.

Dawlat Zadran was the pick of the Afghani bowlers as he claimed four quick wickets for just 26 runs in seven overs.

Subash Khakurel (8), Naresh Budayair (10), Gyanendra Malla (11) and Binod Bhandari (5) all fell cheaply while Sharad Bheswakar was dismissed for a duck. Skipper Paras Khadka top scored for Nepal with 33 runs.

Earlier in the match, spinners duo Shakti Gauchan and Basanta Regmi too three wickets each, helping to restrict Afghanistan to 262 runs.

Nepal finish the tournament with three wins and two losses from five games while they have also qualified for ACC Championship.
